Mysterious Common Dreams and Their Meaning

It is believed that Dreams normally contains the answer that you had been looking for! The fact is that we can actually look at our dreams as a road map to our anxieties, hopes and fears…it is like getting secret messages from our subconscious. Knowing the meaning of a dream can be life changing. Read about some of the important symbols in your dreams and their meanings…

Dream of your Mother - 1
To see your mother in your dream represents the nurturing aspect of your own character. Some people may have problems freeing themselves from their mothers and are thus seeking their own individuality and development. To dream that you are having a conversation with your mother denotes a matter that has preoccupied your mind and you are not sure how to deal with it in your waking life. It indicates unresolved problems that need to be worked out with your mother.

Dream of your Mother - 2
To hear your mother call you in your dream suggests that you have been negligent in your duties and responsibilities. You are pursuing down the wrong path. To dream that you are being told that your mother is dead means that you are feeling neglected. You feel that your mother or some motherly figure in your waking life is not being responsive to your needs. She is not showing enough compassion or other emotions.

Dream of your Mother - 3
If you are not a mother in your waking life, but dream that you are a mother, then the dream is a metaphor that you need to show more of your nurturing and caring nature. You need to be more compassionate. Perhaps you are coming across as too indifferent. Dreaming about your friend's mother symbolizes your idealistic notions of what a mother should be. More directly, your friend's mother may be a motherly figure for you. Perhaps she offered you advice or comfort in your time of need.

Dream of being chased
Dreaming that you are being chased is an indication that you are avoiding issues in your life instead of addressing them. Basically, your brain is trying to send you the message that you need to man up and address the problem. After all, they're going to catch up with you eventually. To dream that you are trying to run but cannot make your feet move means that you may have a lack of self-confidence.

Dream about Nudity
Ever had the naked dream? Common interpretations will reveal a dream of being naked (particularly before a group of peers) is a sign of insecurity, humiliation, shame or feelings of vulnerability. Another way of looking at it is that it may be indicating a return to our natural state – ‘Just be yourself’. Further, dreaming of ourselves nude may be a message to become liberated, get a taste of true freedom and break out of conformity and the ties that bind.

Dream of Clouds
They are the cosmos of thought. The moisture (rain) they hold represent our emotions. So, clouds in dreams talk to us about the balance between our analytical (thought processing) mind and our touchy-feely emotions. Dark clouds hint to a brooding nature, perhaps a situation in which we have dark feelings about something, but are unable to (mentally, constructively) express these feelings. Bright puffy clouds indicate a healthy disposition, a hopeful outlook and a state of well-being.

Dream of Mourning
To dream that you are in mourning refers to your inability to let go of the past. You need to clear those old experiences and make way for the new. Alternatively, the dream may mean the contrary and shows how you are able to let go of the past and accept the loss. To see others or dream that you are wearing mourning symbolizes grief, bad luck, and unhappiness. Alternatively, the dream signifies a disturbing influence or some misunderstanding within your social circle.

Dream of Flowers
Transition, cycles, fragility, development - all the delicate beauty flowers convey are mirrored in our dreams. Blossoming flowers in dreams carry a sweet scent of growth, development and becoming more aware of ourselves within the context of our environment. Faded, wilting or dying flowers indicate the passing of a season, a chapter of our life experience is coming to a close. Flowers also point to health, and the condition of our dream flowers can help us in our healing practices.

Dream of Darkness
To dream that darkness comes upon you signifies failure in some work that you are attempting. Darkness is synonymous with ignorance, the subconscious, evil, death, and fear of the unknown. If the sun breaks through the darkness, then you will overcome your failures. To dream that you are groping around in the darkness indicates that you have insufficient information to make a clear decision. To dream that you are lost in the darkness denotes feelings of desperation, depression, or insecurity.

Dream of a Mouse
To see a mouse in your dream indicates fear, meekness, insignificance and a lack of assertiveness. You are experiencing feelings of inadequacy and fears that you are not measuring up. The dream may be telling you that you are spending too much time hiding in the shadows of someone else. Alternatively, a mouse symbolizes minor irritations and annoyances. A dead mouse indicates that there is something that you have ignored or neglected for too long.

Dream of Blood
Blood dreams get right down to the nitty gritty of emotional issues that have been coagulating deep beneath surface life experience, those aspects that dwell in the deepest fathoms of our awareness. Some messages that may manifest from blood include a sense of guilt (dreaming of blood on our hands), overburdened or weak and needing to take rest (loosing blood in our dreams), challenges with making social connections or emotional ties (seeing someone else's blood).

Dream of Mountains
Mountains in our dreams symbolize conquering, overcoming, hard work, willpower, and ascending above petty circumstances. Climbing the Mountain implies hard work in learning a new skill. Descending the Mountain implies stepping back from a situation, taking time to think about your actions, getting a second opinion. A Mountain range in your dream represents a new adventure, and is a message encouraging expansion in your life.

Dream of a Forest
Forests deal with experience, vision, emotions and shadows. Forests in our dreams may indicate unresolved feelings about something, or not being able to see our way clear of a problem. Forests may indicate we feel lost in our lives. On the other hand, if you are dreaming of a beautiful, lush Forest, this indicates an unshakable faith in the Divine and prosperity is your destiny. Seeing a Forest fire indicates health problems.

Dream of the Devil
The Devil in dreams symbolizes darkness and confusion. Its dream time visitation may also mean you are preoccupied with negative thoughts, or someone in your life is bringing you down to a negative emotional level. The Devil may also indicate you are dealing with temptations. The Devil is also the personification of ego - it may be time to soften your ego a bit.

Dream of a Murder
To dream that you have committed a murder indicates that you are putting an end to an old habit and a former way of thinking. Alternatively, the dream indicates that you have some repressed aggression or rage at yourself or at someone. To dream that you witness a murder indicates deep-seated anger towards somebody. To dream that you are murdered suggests that some important and significant relationship has been severed. You are trying to disconnect yourself from your emotions.

Dream of a Tunnel
Dream symbol meaning of Tunnels deals with birth, and sometimes death. Tunnels in our dreams ask us to look back to a starting point. In Tunnels we often encounter our deepest mind - our unconscious thoughts. Tunnels encourage us to follow a path into the unknown. They are a message for us to begin exploring our own concepts of life, death, and birth.

Dream of an Umbrella
Umbrellas in our dreams indicate our need to take a closer look at our worries and fears. When we have an open Umbrella in our dream we must act carefully and watch how we behave with others. A closed Umbrella means we are worrying and obsessing unnecessarily. When Umbrellas appear, we must ask what we are afraid of because our fears are holding us back from progress.

Dream of Water
Dream symbol meaning of Water deals with cleansing and emotional stirrings. If the Water is murky in your dream, this is a warning not to get involved in new endeavors. If the Water is clear, success is coming your way. Seeing yourself in water means that you are not being fully honest with yourself! When you contemplate your dream of Water, keep in mind Water is a symbol of your emotional state.

Dream of moving in Slow Motion
These sorts of dreams usually involve a sensation of paralysis or your inability to move away from a looming danger. This one is also fairly straight forward. The dream is representative of your inability to move forward or make progress in your waking life. It is similar in some respect to our entry on trapped dreams in that it can indicate your frustration with being held back by someone or something.

Dream of Falling
These dreams signify anxiety and a loss of control in your waking life. An alternate interpretation is that it is simply a fear dream which relates to potential abandonment issues. One interesting side note is that falling dreams almost always occur during the first stage of sleep. They are accompanied by muscle spasms and contractions ( jerks). When we have such dreams our bodies tremble and we awaken from the movement.

Dream of Vehicles
Vehicles in a dream symbolize a means for experiencing what is happening in our conscious life, how much control we think we have over the path that the experience presents, and the obstacles we are facing. The type and size of vehicle can indicate different messages. For example, large vehicles can symbolize the organization that is enabling the experience, such as an ambulance would indicate a need for healing, and a police car would indicate a need for discipline.

Dream of the Dead
To see or talk to the dead in your dream forewarns that you are being influenced by negative people and are hanging around the wrong crowd. This dream may also be a way for you to resolve your feelings with those who have passed on. Alternatively, the dream symbolizes material loss. If you dream of a person who has died a long time ago, then it suggests that a current situation or relationship in your life resembles the quality of that deceased person.

Dream about Teeth
Teeth dreams usually involve your teeth falling out, crumbling, decaying, or just simply missing. It may seem silly to have a dream about your teeth falling out with the excellent dental care we have access to today. Many dream experts theorize that dreams about losing our teeth have to do with the fear of being found unattractive. At a deeper level, teeth dreams can signify a fear of losing power in your waking life.

Dream about Appearing for a Test
The funny thing about test dreams is that they are more common in people who have been out of school for quite some time as opposed to those who are still taking classes. Test dreams can go a number of different ways. The two most common scenarios are that you can’t make it to your test in time or that you get there and are completely unprepared. These nerve-inducing dreams usually represent a feeling of being tested in the real world.

Dream about Dying
Dying and illness dreams can have a number of different meanings. Sometimes these can be brought on if you are sick in real life. Other times, they can represent a deep, emotional pain. Sometimes they work to warn you of an upcoming danger or risk in your own life. If the dying or illness dream isn’t about you but a friend or a family member, then you might be afraid of losing them or perhaps you wish they would go away.

Dream about a Game Show
To dream that you are on a game show suggests that you need to change some aspect of your life around. You may be experiencing feelings of uncertainty and what the future may hold. Consider the type of game show or the name of the game show. What are you playing for and what is its significance relative to your waking life.

Dream of Abduction
To dream of being abducted indicates that you are being manipulated by your circumstances or by someone. You lack control of your own life. To witness abduction in your dream signifies feelings of helplessness. To dream that you are abducting someone implies that you are holding on to something that you need to let go. You may be forcing your views and opinions on others.

Dream of Balloons
To see balloons in your dream indicate declining hopes and disappointments in your search for love. A situation in your life will take a turn downward. Balloons also represent arrogance and an inflated opinion of yourself. To dream that you or someone is blowing up a balloon represents your aspirations, goals and ambitions. To see an ascending balloon in your dream signifies frustrating conditions in your life in which you are seeking to rise above. You are expressing a desire to escape.

Dream of Garuda
To see Garuda in your dream symbolizes agility, fear, fierceness, superiority and power. You are strongly connected to your spirituality. The dream also represents your courageous struggles toward achieving your highest ambitions and goals.

Dream of Abuse
To dream you are abusing someone suggests that your past actions will come back to haunt you. You may be expressing some regret or remorse over your actions. To dream you are being verbally or physically abused suggests that you are feeling victimized in a waking situation. You are being taking advantage of. Dreaming of animals being abused indicates that your own primal desires are being suppressed. You are unable to fully express an important part of who you are.

Dream of a Ghost
To see a ghost in your dream represents something that is no longer obtainable or within reach. It indicates that you are feeling disconnected from life and society. The dream may also be a calling for you to move on. To dream that you turn into a ghost implies that you are desperate to escape from a situation. To see the ghost of a living relative or friend in your dream signifies that you are in danger of malice acts by that person.

Dream of Keys
To see a key in your dream symbolizes opportunities, access, control, secrets, freedom, knowledge or responsibilities. You may be locking away your own inner feelings and emotions. Or you are unlocking the answer to some problem. To see a ring of keys represents status, authority, and power. It also highlights your adaptability to a situation. In particular, if you see a skeleton key, then it refers to old emotions or memories that you have stored or locked away.

Dream of a Snake - 1
To see a snake or be bitten by one in your dream signifies hidden fears and worries that are threatening you. Your dream may be alerting you to something in your waking life that you are not aware of or that has not yet surfaced. If the snake tangles itself, then it represents a subsiding threat. Something that you thought was going to be a problem has resolved itself. Alternatively, the snake may be seen as phallic and thus symbolize temptation, dangerous and forbidden sexuality

Dream of a Snake - 2
In particular, to see a snake on your bed suggests that you are feeling sexually overpowered or sexually threatened. If you are afraid of the snake, then it signifies your fears of intimacy or commitment. The snake may also refer to a person around you who is callous, ruthless, and can't be trusted. As a positive symbol, snakes represent healing, transformation, knowledge and wisdom. It is indicative of self-renewal and positive change.

Dream of Rain
To see and hear rain falling symbolizes forgiveness and grace. Falling rain is also a metaphor for tears, crying and sadness. Alternatively, rain symbolizes fertility and renewal. If you get wet from the rain, then it indicates cleaning from your troubles and problems. To dream that you are watching the rain from a window indicates that spiritual ideas and insights are being brought to your awareness. It may also symbolize fortune and love.

Dreaming of the Old
To see something old in your dream suggests that there is something in your life that you need to replace or get rid of. Alternatively, the dream means that there may be something in the past that you need to incorporate into your current life. To see or dream that you are an old man or woman refers to your wise decisions. Negatively, it may mean your unyielding ways and rigid thinking. Perhaps you have concerns about aging and growing old.
